Hedwig Bauerfeld Bittner, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Hedwig was born February 12, 1934, in Germany, to the late Emilie and Gustav Bauerfeld. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Bittner, Sr., a son, John Joseph Bittner, Jr., and daughter, Joanne Bittner.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 12 noon at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11-12 noon on Wednesday.

Hedwig is survived by her son, Joel Bittner; daughters, Cindy Bittner Frakes and Susanne Bittner Creech and husband Albert; sister, Erika Henley; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
