Helen Brockenbrough Black, 88, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

Helen retired from AT&T in 1994 after 42 years of service. Her hobbies included loving animals and spending time at the beach.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Sims of Richmond, Va. She is survived by her son, William A. Nolan and his wife, Vickie of Houston, Texas; her daughter, Barbara Black of Fayetteville; her grandchildren, Stacy Nolan Pontius and husband James of Houston, Texas and James Nolan and wife Ashley of Austin, Texas; great grandson, Jace Pontius of Houston, Texas; her nephew, Mitford Sims, III of Richmond, Va.; her beloved cats, "Sofi" and "Meepie"

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. one hour prior to the service at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Interment will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at 1 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, Va.

In lieu of flowers, it is her request that memorial gifts be made to the Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary, 74 Prairie Lane, St. Pauls, N.C. 283
