Mrs. Helen Westerfield Clapp, 81, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, July 25, 2013. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 10 am in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. Helen was born May 20, 1932 in Hinds, Mississippi to the late James Travis and Bonnie St. John Westerfield. She was a graduate of Vanderbilt Nursing School and worked as a registered nurse throughout her career. Mrs. Clapp was preceded in death by a son, Mark Clapp. She is survived by her husband, Retired Army LTC Max A. Clapp of the home; sons, Max Clapp of Merritt Island, FL and Michael Clapp and wife Sherry of Lexington, SC; two sisters, Barbara Briggs of Jackson, MS and Bonitha Alice Morrow of Biloxi, MS; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 10 am in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
