Helen Flowers Johnson passed away November 2, 2015 after a brief illness following a long decline in her health. She lived 97 years and enjoyed her time on earth serving and caring for family and friends. She was for many years in the administration of various elementary schools at Ft Bragg. She was a Christ-like presence to her family and to many with whom she came in contact. She thought of others before herself.
A native of Johnston County, NC, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Hobart Hill, and her second husband, Duncan E Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Green and Eva Belle Flowers and by her brothers, Leslie Carlyle Flowers and Joel Pias Flowers. Funeral services will be conducted graveside at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville, NC on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11am.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hill Skinner of Charlotte, NC, and granddaughters, Robin Lorraine Skinner of Winston Salem, NC and Erin Skinner Pittorino and her husband, Steve, of Acton, MA, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson is also survived by her son, Leslie Wayne Hill of Wake Forest, NC, and his wife Katie, and her grandson, Jonathan Radford Hill.
She is also survived by her sister, Grace Hudson of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the many dedicated people from Visiting Angels Senior Care, especially Jean Cetoute, and the staff at Summit Place of Charlotte who helped to make Mrs. Johnson's last days more enjoyable.
Memorials can be directed to either St John's Baptist Church of Charlotte or Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, Fayetteville, NC.
