Obituary

Helen Hughes Petrucelli, 98, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at her residence with her family by her side.

Helen was born on April 23, 1928, in Bladenboro, North Carolina, to the late Rev. Holland Hughes and Alma Bowen Hughes.

She was a faithful member of Northwood Temple, where she lovingly served in the nursery for 25 years. Helen loved the Lord and dedicated her life to serving others. She had a special love for children and enjoyed traveling, always ready to go whenever someone suggested an adventure.

Helen was a retired hairdresser and owner-operator of the Shamrock Beauty Den.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Arthur Petrucelli; daughters, Pam Roberts and Dianne Cole; sister, Emily Smith; and grandson, Michael Hicks.

She is survived by her daughters, Tonie McKnight and husband, Brian, and Angel Baer and husband, Douglas; brothers, Harold Hughes and wife, Erma, and Mitchell Hughes; sisters, Mary Eliason and husband Richard, and Nancy Sykes; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
