Mrs. Helen Lee Register, 72, of 3522 Madison Ave., Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Register was born in Sampson County to parents Floyd and Annie Lou Lee. She was a retired vice president at Bank of America. Mrs. Register was a member of Village Baptist Church, where she served on the finance committee for many years, as well as the counting committee. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, in Village Baptist Church, with Dr. Bruce Martin, the Rev. Eastland Gray and the Rev. Nick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Sept. 25, 2008, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Mrs. Register is survived by her husband, Darrell Gene Register of the home; two sons, Terry G. Register and wife Grace of Raleigh and Gary Lynn Register and wife Tanya of Apex; a daughter, Angela R. Hewett and husband Jerry of Fayetteville; her mother, Annie Lou Barnhill Lee of Newton Grove; a sister, Lillou L. Thornton of Wendell; five grandchildren, Courtney R. Bryson and husband Aaron, Caitlin Register, Macon B. Haddock, Joshua L. Register and Valerie Hewett; and a great-granddaughter, Emma McKenzie Bryson.
