Henry Edward Aspinwall, 72, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Duke University Hospital.
Henry was born on August 5, 1954, in Georgia to the late Thomas Edward Aspinwall and Alice Bell Dart Aspinwall. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. During his military career, Henry received numerous medals and awards, including the Army Occupational Medal and the Kuwait Liberation Medal–Saudi Arabia, as well as the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.
Following his military retirement, Henry continued his career as a Senior Master Diesel Mechanic with Lafayette Ford and Crossroads Ford. He also worked with several other businesses throughout his career, earning the respect and friendship of many through his knowledge, hard work, and dedication.
Henry had a deep love for dogs, antique cars, and motorcycles. He was a member of several motorcycle clubs and enjoyed attending car shows, motorcycle shows, and dog shows. He generously volunteered his time with children at the International Folk Festival and Dickens Holiday Downtown Fayetteville, and he worked with the Mide Clubs 4-H. In recent years, Henry discovered a new passion for leather crafting and enjoyed learning and developing his skills. He was a practicing Mennonite.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Clyde Wheeler.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Dr. CeSea Haaf-Lawson; his children, Marvin Edward Aspinwall, Virginia “Ginnie” Aspinwall, and Christina; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Henry will be remembered for his service to his country, his generous heart, his many passions, and the love he shared with his family, friends, children, and animals. His memory will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery Chapel.
