Retired US Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Henry C. Jackson, 89, of Fayetteville, died Friday, January 23, 2015, in the VA Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 2 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Rev. James Baker presiding. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park with military honors.
Henry was retired from the military after 34 years of service, during which he served in both the US Merchant Marines and the US Army. He served in the Vietnam War, Korea and WWII and had received two bronze stars and various other service commendations. He was a faithful member of Carroll Memorial Baptist Church. He was a member of the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry and many other local area volunteer organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Carleen Jackson of the home; 2 sons, Henry F. Jackson and wife Faye of Holden's Beach and Rev. Dewey Jackson and wife Brenda of Dublin; 3 stepchildren, Barbara Hohl and husband Bob of Fayetteville, Sandra Thompson and husband Tony of Panama City, Florida and Scott Williams of Holly Ridge; two brothers, Dwight Jackson and wife Doris of Fayetteville and Joe Jackson and wife Gail of Providence, Utah; 10 grandchildren, Amber Tibbetts, Dewey Jackson, Christen Cokes, Pheora Laramie, Laura Davis, Patrick Jackson, Samantha Thompson, Joey Williams, Rachel Perry and Jacob Williams; 9 great-grandchildren and his extended family, Tony Duffer and Anita Wallwork.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 1 to 2 pm at Jernigan Warren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carroll Memorial Baptist Church 2220 Camden Road Fayetteville NC 28306.
