Herbert Hayes, age 89, of Hope Mills, departed this life on Friday, January 7, 2022. He was born on October 3, 1932, in Madison, NC to the late Wilcie Leftwich and Amy Hayes.

Hebert was a proud military man, retiring from the Army with 20 years of service. He went on to work as an instrument fitter with various construction companies after his military career. He was the founder of the Faith Fellowship Organization and devoted much of his time fighting injustice and assisting friends and family. He was a hard worker with a need to stay busy. He was a dreamer who was passionate about his beliefs.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife Teruko, brother Thomas, and grandson Jerome.

He is survived by daughters, Christine, Sheila, and Rosalie (Curtis); grandchildren Tanika, Derek, Eric, Dominic, and Marcus; sister-in-law Brenda Hayes, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel with Full Military Honors.
