Mr. Herman W. Hays, 75, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital.
Mr. Hays retired after a 20-year distinguished career in the U.S. Army with combat service in Korea and Vietnam. His military career included a lengthy assignment at the Human Engineering Lab at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Md., and several overseas assignments in Europe and Asia.
Following his military retirement, Mr. Hays established an outstanding real estate career in which he was well respected throughout the Fayetteville business community.
Mr. Hays will lie in state between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2007. Friends are encouraged to visit during these times. All other services will be private.
Mr. Hays is survived by his wife, Joyce R. Hays of the home; sons, David W. Hays and wife Jan of Fayetteville, and Russell Hays and wife Dana of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers, Curtis Hays of Montgomery, Ala., and Jimmy Hays of Birmingham, Ala.; and sisters, Linda H. Johnson of Montgomery and Ione Lopiccolo of Illinois.
