Hideko Murakami Collins, 95, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at home with her beloved daughters by her side.
Hideko was born on January 30, 1926 in Japan. She married Kenneth M. Collins in 1952 when he was stationed there and then moved to the US in 1954.
Her career as a highly skilled seamstress began as a designer/seamstress with the Christy Toy Manufacturing Company of Fayetteville until its closing. She did alterations for numerous bridal shops and from her home in Fayetteville.
She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church and an active member of the Immaculate Conception Sodality and Rosary Prayer group.
Her many interests included cooking for family and friends, sewing, flower arranging, and crafting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth M. Collins, her parents, Yoshito and Setsu Murakami, 2 brothers and 2 sisters in Japan and her cat, K.C. (Kitty Collins)
She is survived by her daughters. Alice Singletary (husband Frank) and Linda Miller; grandchildren, Shaina Miller, Bryan Miller (wife Becky) and Megan Scearce; and great grandchildren, Madeline Miller, MaKayla Miller, and Kenny Dehu and numerous relatives in Japan.
The family would like to thank Father Greg Lowchy, Pastor, Father Sparrow, Parochial Vicar, and the Sodality members that administered to her spiritual needs. They would also like to thank the nursing staff at Liberty Hospice for their compassionate, loving care of their mom.
A Committal service will be held on January 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Raeford Rd. with Deacon Vince Mescall presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2844 Village Dr. Fayetteville, NC 28304, or to Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast NC, 406 Deep Creek Rd. Fayetteville NC 28312.
