Hilda Irene Edge Jackson, 86, of Fayetteville, NC, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.

Ms. Jackson was born November 20, 1935, in Bladen County, NC, to the late Elliott Howard Edge and Lena Douglas Smith Edge.  She was a 1954 graduate of Stedman High School.  She worked with the Cumberland County Court System for over 40 years.   After a distinguished career she retired as Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court.

Alongside her husband Bob, Hilda faithfully served for 60 years at Temple Baptist Church.  She was always ready to serve in any capacity needed.  She had a strong love for family, Sunday meals, holidays, ballgames and school events: you could always find her there. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate in the lives of her children or grandchildren.   She was regarded by others as an outstanding cook whose signature dish was homemade banana pudding.  She had a quick wit, loved to pick and have fun with others.

Ms. Jackson was a Godly woman whose life was a reflection of her strong belief and trust in the Lord. She instilled that trust in her family and was willing to share her faith with others. Because of her faith she was well respected and highly regarded by those who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Daniel Robert Jackson and a brother, M. Ferrell Edge.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Temple Baptist Church, 3159 Sanderosa Road, Fayetteville, NC 28312,with a funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Suggs Grove Baptist Church, 16618 NC 53, Fayetteville, NC 28312.  The family respectfully asks that all in attendance wear a face covering.

Ms. Jackson is survived by her sons: Robert Kevin Jackson (Connie) of Fayetteville, Douglas Gregory Jackson (Lisa) of Washington, DC, and Brian Scott Jackson (Brenda) of Hope Mills; a sister:  Carolyn Lee (Tommy) of Spring Hill, FL; grandchildren:  Christopher Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Taylor Jackson (Cameron), and Meredith Jackson; Great-Grandchildren:  Layla Jackson, Daniel Jackson, and McKenzie Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 3159 Sanderosa Road, Fayetteville, NC 28312.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Brown's Nursing Service and Cape Fear Valley Hospice for the care and attention provided to their mother during her illness.
