Mrs. Ikey Blackwelder, 94, of Hope Mills, died Thursday, February 15, 2007, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Mrs. Blackwelder was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm today, February 17, 2007, in Jernigan Warren Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Michael Boarts and Lawrence Tew officiating. The burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. A visitation will take place from noon to 1 pm Saturday at the funeral home; and other times at Ron's home. Mrs. Blackwelder is survived by her son, Ron Blackwelder and his wife, Joannne, of Fayetteville; daughter, Leigh Helms and her husband, Ed, of Pfafftown, NC; two sisters, Janie Blackwelder and Lou Badgett, both of Sanford; four grandchildren, Casey Sortini, Chris Carter, Tyler Anne Blackwelder, and Evan Paige Blackwelder; and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Carter Sortini.
