Irene Lane, 93, passed away quietly February 29 to be with her Lord and Savior.

Irene was born in Wayne County to the late Troy and Lillie Jernigan. She is predeceased in death by her loving husband, Wilbur Lane, her three sisters, and 2 brothers.

Surviving are her children, Donna Lane of Cary; Debbie Hawkes (Dennis) of Rockfish; Gary Lane of Fayetteville; her darling grandchildren, Nicole Steele (Adam), Hayley Hawkes, and Johnathon Lane; great granddaughters, Sierra Steele and Skylar Steele; sister in law Joyce Lane; several loving nieces and nephews, and extended family members.

Irene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was an active member of Peace Presbyterian Church for over 55 years serving as a member of the choir, women of the church council, and Deacon of the church.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Lafayette Memorial Park.
