Jacqueline Lebas Golden, 79, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Born on June 9, 1947, in Montbazon, France, Jacqueline lived a life marked by dedication to her family, her work, and her passions.

Jacqueline spent her early years in France, where she attended high school in Tours and completed two years of trade school to become a professional seamstress. She worked in a specialty dress shop in Tours before embarking on a journey that would take her across continents. After moving to the United States, Jacqueline pursued further education with an English writing class and citizenship studies. She also undertook training to become a certified Nurse Assistant in Pennsylvania and Maryland. 

Her career as a caregiver spanned over two decades and reflected her deep commitment to helping others. Jacqueline worked at the Brethren Home in New Oxford, PA; Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA; Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA; and concluded her career at a home for retired nuns in Emmitsburg, MD. Her compassion and dedication left an indelible mark on those she cared for throughout her professional life. 

Jacqueline was married to Emory C. Golden for 59 years and four months—a partnership filled with love and devotion. Together they raised two children: their daughter April L. Lethers (spouse Timothy S. Lethers) of Fayetteville, NC, and their son Douglas C. Golden (wife Christina M. Golden) of Clarksville, TN. Jacqueline cherished her role as a grandmother to Jacqueline R. Rhodes (spouse Wesley C. Rhodes) of Fayetteville, NC; Laura H. Lethers of Raleigh, NC; Payton D. Lethers of Fayetteville, NC; Kenla A-M. Golden of Clarksville, TN; Logan E. Golden of Clarksville, TN; Mila C. Golden of Clarksville, TN; and as a great-grandmother to Henry D. Rhodes of Fayetteville, NC. 

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mary Lebas of France and nine siblings who also resided in France. 

Jacqueline’s life was enriched by her many interests and accomplishments. She was an exceptional gardener and landscaper who took pride in maintaining the lawn and plants around her home with care and creativity. A devoted member of York Springs Lutheran Church in York Springs, PA., Jacqueline found strength and community through her faith. 

One of the proudest moments of Jacqueline’s life came on April 18, 1988, when she became a naturalized American citizen—a milestone that brought immense joy to both herself and her family. 

Above all else, Jacqueline loved her family deeply. She always sought the best for her children and found endless joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. 

Jacqueline will be laid to rest at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Bragg, NC, where she will be honored for the remarkable life she led. A Celebration of Life will be held privately for immediate family at a later date.
