Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Jacqueline D. Tart, 76, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, in the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center. Prior to her hospice stay, Mrs. Tart resided at the Carolina Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at 1 p.m. in Village Baptist Church. The burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Tart was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Tart; and a sister, Mrs. Rose Phipps. She is survived by daughters, Windie T. Conrath of Apex, Anita Brillant and husband Mike of Las Vegas; and son, David A. Tart Jr. and wife Anne of Raleigh. She is also survived by sisters, Alegra (Lee) of Fayetteville, Lexzine Hawley and husband Eugene of Dunn, and Jean Taylor of Dunn. Mrs. Tart is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends today, Oct. 15, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Mrs. Tart and her husband were charter members of Village Baptist Church (formerly Village Drive Baptist Church), where she also served as church secretary for 15 years. She was active in the choir, where she enjoyed sharing the word of God through song. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff of the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center, who made their mother's last few days on this earth as comfortable as possible. They would also like to thank all the friends who offered prayers and support over the years to their mother. In particular, we would like to thank Mrs. Helen Duke, who served as our mother's neighbor, friend, confidant, and \\"5th sister\\" for more than 40 years. Mrs. Tart was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease more than 20 years ago. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation Inc., Office of Development, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494. The Tart family has entrusted services to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
