James Alvin "Bill" Capps Sr., 82, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2007.
He was a member and choir member of Mount Carmel Church, worked with Burlington Industries for 25 years, and retired from Purolator after 15 years of service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Sept. 12, 2007, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Gary Strickland and the Rev. Wiley Hughes. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annie Laura Capps of the home; a daughter, Betty Sweat of Fayetteville; a daughter, Jean Renaut and husband Bud of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; a son, Jimmy Capps Jr. and wife Lisa of Hope Mills; a brother, Garland Capps of Hope Mills; a sister, Mary Turlington and husband Robert of Coats; four grandchildren, Ed Tyrrell, Robbie Sweat, Taylor Capps and Jordan Capps; five great-grandchildren, Madison and Meredith Tyrrell, Zachary Sweat, and Brianna and Alex Sweat; five nieces; two nephews; and two "adopted" daughters, Gay Sweat and Gracie Galloway.
