FAYETTEVILLE — James "Jim" Curtis Lothspeich, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday Feb. 25, 2015, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 15, 1928, in Minneapolis, son of Bernard Frank and Stella Mae. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He served four years as a pilot with the Navy, and was a special agent with the FBI for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He was happily married to Patricia Lee Lothspeich, his lovely bride of 58 years, having met in Baltimore while working for the bureau. They were active members of St. Patrick Church of Fayetteville, where they raised their five children.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lee Lothspeich; sister, Phyllis Grubbs of Virginia Beach, Va.; son, Michael Lothspeich and wife, Lisa, of Trussville, Ala.; daughter, Kathy Gooch and husband, Ric, of Raleigh; son, Steve Lothspeich and wife, Ana, of Charlotte; daughter, Mary Pat McDonald and husband, Keith, of Fayetteville; and daughter, Lori Messer of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren, Eric, Catherine and Kristen Lothspeich, Lauren Sisko and husband, Dennis, Nicole and Jimmy Gooch, Alex and Matthew Lothspeich, Jake and Rachel McDonald, and Rebecca Messer; and a great-granddaughter, Emily. The family will receive friends from to to 8 p.m Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, in St. Patrick Catholic Church.
