SFC James Harold Custer, US Army retired, 78, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Carolina Rehab Center of Cumberland. Mr. Custer was a retired Army sergeant first class with 20 years of service, including tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Village Baptist Church. Services for Mr. Custer will be held graveside at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lafayette Memorial Park with Rev. Nick Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. He is survived by his wife, Ethel J. Custer of the home;a daughter, Beth C. Autry of Fayetteville; and sisters, Mary Cox and Elizabeth Walters both of Roanoke, Virginia; and a granddaughter, Ashley Autry.
