It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend, James Harold Dickinson Jr.

James was thoughtful and never seemed to run out of something interesting to talk about. Whether it be a bit of knowledge from pop culture, a quick-witted dad joke or a passage from the book he was creating.

James's life was not without its challenges. He experienced difficult seasons and carried the lessons of his past with him, but he did not allow those experiences to define him. Instead, they became a quiet strength. A deeper understanding of people, of hardship, and of the importance of kindness. In his own way, James used what he had lived through to become someone who could listen, connect with others, and offer understanding when it was needed most.

In his later years, James devoted himself to serving families in our community through his work at Lafayette Memorial Park. His work there became much more than a job. It gave him the opportunity to meet and help countless people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Along the way, he formed lasting friendships with his coworkers and with the families he served.

Those who had the privilege of crossing paths with James will remember the kindness, humor, knowledge, and genuine care he brought with him. Many were truly grateful to have known him.

James leaves behind his children, Jenny, Joey, and Amy, and his two sisters, Jean and Judith.

James will be remembered not only for the work he did, but for the person he was: a true friend who always had a joke to tell, a story to share, a question to ponder, or a bit of knowledge to pass along. His memory will live on in the people he helped, the friendships he made, the conversations he shared, and the lives he touched along the way.

Though he will be deeply missed, those who knew James can be grateful for the time they were given with him and for the memories he leaves behind. His was a life that carried its share of hardship, but also one that found strength, purpose, friendship, and meaning along the way. That quiet strength will remain part of the legacy he leaves with those who knew and loved him.
