Obituary

Retired U.S. Army Command. Sgt. Maj. James Freeman Dudley, 85, of Fayetteville, died Friday, March 14, 2008, in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg. Mr. Dudley served for 27 years in the Army and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During his military career, he received many awards and commendations. He was a member of Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge No. 679, A.F. & A.M. He also was a member of Fort Bragg Main Post Chapel. A memorial service with military honors and Masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel. Chaplain Howard Lucas will officiate. Vistation will follow the service at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Mr. Dudley is survived by his wife, Christel Doerrer Dudley of the home; daughters, Robin Cunningham and husband Dan of Fayetteville and Audrey Faulkner and husband Ed of Fayetteville; sister, Margaret Ann Crisman of Amhurst, N.H.; grandchildren, Karley Solomon, Katie Cunningham and Jacob Solomon; stepgrandchildren, Syara and James Faulkner; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Helene and Bob Kugelmann and Marge and John Koenig; and many nieces and nephews.
