Obituary

James Alton Farmer, 81 of Fayetteville, NC Passed away peacefully on monday October 30, 2017 in his home with his family by his side. His Journey began on October 15, 1936 born to Dorothy L. & Lonnie D. Farmer in Los Angeles, California. He was an only child. James moved around a lot due to his dad's naval career.

He was living in Hawaii, when Pearl Harbor was bombed December 7, 1941 James was 5yrs old. James moved around to various states and even lived on Yap Island in the western Pacific Ocean. He graduated from Oceanside H.S. and Joined the U.S. Navy, as a Medical Corpsman February 10,1956. James spent a lot of time out at sea and on land. He was stationed in Hawaii, San Diego CA, Oceanside, CA, and Oklahoma. James served two tours to Viet Nam. He was and honorable Sailor who loved his career. he retired on September 12, 1977 after 24 years of service.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 10:00am to 10:30am at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home with the memorial service following at 10:30am in the funeral home chapel, burial with Military Honors will follow at 12noon in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.James Alton Farmer

He leaves behind his wife of 29yrs, Five Children and their spouses, Leslie Farmer-Rodriguez (Alex), Larry (Linda), Richard Farmer Robin Pope (Jim), Steven Farmer.

He has 10 grandchildren and 8 Great grandkids.
