FAYETTEVILLE- James R. (Jim) Sullivan, 78, passed away on July 20, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Jim was born on July 17, 1934 in Fredricksburg, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents & one grandson He is survived by his wife, Angie; son, Michael and wife, Christina; son, David and wife, Sharon; sister, Ruth "Arlene" Kirtley; brother, Pratt Sullivan; three step sons, two step daughters, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He had a 20 year career in the US Army and proudly served his country with three tours in Vietnam as a medic. He was a highly decorated veteran and received the Bronze Star twice in his military career. After retiring as a Sergeant First Class, he worked for another 20 years helping other veterans at the Veterans Administration. He will be greatly missed by his family, his Sunday School class & church, his morning buddies at Hardee's and all those who were blessed to know him. Visitation, Monday July 23, 2012 from 6-8 pm at Jernigan- Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville; funeral, Tuesday July 24, 2012 at 11 am in Cedar Falls Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street with Full Military Honors.
