James V. (Jimmy) Walker 89, went to be with Jesus on Saturday Feb. 27, 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Florence Baker Walker; sons, Larry Walker and Timothy Walker (Shirley); his daughter, Pamela Walker Briggs (John), all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Dena Briggs Seals (Mike) of Hope Mills, Trent Walker (Deana) of Knightdale, Todd Walker (Heather) of Tampa Fl., Christopher Walker (Sandra) of Hope Mills and Paul Briggs (Rachel) of Hope Mills; great-grandchildren, Kyle Walker, Ethan Walker, Grant Seals, Trent Walker II, Cole Walker, Luke Seals, Declan Walker and Natalie Seals. He is also survived by brothers, Jerome Walker of Fayetteville, John B. Walker (Gerry) of Cordele Ga.; sisters, Othilla Bailey (Brooks) of Hawkinsville Ga. and Betty Sue Gunn (Grady) of Lakeland Fl. He was preceded in death by sister, Collette Dyer; father, George; mother, Oree; step-mother, Jonnie; grandson, Stephen M.W. Briggs; and great grandson, Reid M Seals.

Jimmy was born in Adrian Ga. Sept. 24, 1926. He came to Fayetteville as a member of the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg in 1945 where he met and married the love of his life Florence Baker; they were married on Jan. 15, 1946. He was a member of the C & Adam St. Church of God (Praise Fellowship) since 1953. He was a retired millwright and sheet metal mechanic.

Visitation will be held at the Praise Fellowship Church of God, 510 Adam St., Fayetteville, on Wed. March 2, 2016 at 11:30 am with the funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm. Rev. Richard Williford and Rev. Kenneth Boyd will be conducting the services. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St.
