Obituary

Fayetteville, N.C. Mr. James "Jim" Perry Mayo, 90 of Fayetteville passed away on November 3, 2013 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Mayo was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Carolina Telephone as a divisional manager and a member of the Retired Employee After Carolina Telephone. Jim was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist where he served many positions at the church. He was a Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mattie Mayo and a daughter Jan Mayo. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 3:00 in Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Scott Finicum, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Mr. Mayo is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Lucille "Lucy" Mayo of the home; son, Dr. Jim Mayo and wife Caron of Buies Creek ; two grandchildren James Mayo, III. and Mary-Hannah Evans; two nephews and a niece. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Children's Home Society of N.C. P.O. Box 14608 Greensboro, N.C. 27415. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 3:00 in Christ United Methodist Church.
