Obituary

James A. Taylor -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- James Allen Taylor, 68, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, March 31, 2007, in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital. Mr. Taylor was born June 16, 1938, in Beardstown, Ill., the son of the late Lyle Sr. and Mable Taylor. He married Geneva I. Richards of Beardstown on May 9, 1959. Command Sgt. Maj. Taylor was of the Protestant faith. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1975 with several tours of duty in Vietnam, and he was one of the original members of the Army elite Special Forces, the Green Berets. Mr. Taylor adored his family and enjoyed listening to old country music, dancing, and playing golf. He was also dedicated to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007, at 1 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Taylor was predeceased by his parents and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Taylor of the home; sons, Ricky Taylor and wife Sherry of Fayetteville, Randy Taylor and wife Kelley of Fayetteville and Mike Taylor and wife Angie of Fayetteville; eight brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
