Obituary

Janette Carroll Page, 96, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Village Green, with her family by her side.

Janette was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 1, 1929, to the late George William Carroll, Sr. and Bertha Morgan Carroll. At a young age, she moved with her family to Cumberland County, where she spent most of her life.

After graduating from high school, Janette worked at Burlington Industries before earning her LPN license and beginning her nursing career at the old Highsmith-Rainey Hospital. She later worked for many years at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center as an OB recovery nurse. Her dedication and skill as a nurse were evident when Dr. Neuman entrusted her to serve as a private nurse for his mother during the final stages of her life — a tribute to Janette's compassionate care and professionalism.

Janette met the love of her life, Craven Eldridge Page, Sr., on a blind date. They married in 1950 and shared nearly 60 wonderful years together until his passing in 2009. Their love was evident to all who knew them; they were known for always holding hands, even as they drifted off to sleep at night.

She enjoyed working with flowers and was especially known for rooting flowers and trees. Truly blessed with a "green thumb," Janette once had her yard featured in the local newspaper. She was also an exceptional cook, famous among family and friends for her homemade biscuits.

Janette loved crafting and spent countless hours crocheting, cross-stitching, quilting, and sewing. When her daughter was young, she lovingly made much of her clothing by hand. In later years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling together in their camper to Florida during his work assignments, creating cherished memories along the way.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Janette was preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Garrett and Edna McDaniel; her brothers, George W. Carroll, Jr. Bernard Carroll, and James Lee Carroll; her daughter-in-law, Dorthy Page; and her son-in-law, Larry Cain.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ellen Cain; her sons, Craven Eldridge Page, Jr. and Ronnie Lee Page; her sister, Verna Brady; her grandchildren, Tammy Beaney and husband Johnny, Tonya Page Meeds and husband Mike, and Lisa Nixon Nance;  great-grandchildren, Arika Beaney, Nick Nixon, Liam Nixon, Keegan Nixon, Brady Nixon, Shae Nixon, Dustin Page; great great grandchildren, Adalyn Nixon, Willie Nixon, and Raegan Boivin; and grand dog, Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
