Mrs. Janie "Mabel" Williams West, 91, of Fayetteville, departed for her heavenly home on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Mrs. West was a lifelong member of Judson Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Cumberland County Schools. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 tonight, Sept. 27, 2008, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Judson Baptist Church, with Dr. John Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe West; son, Robert "Bobby" West; parents, George Robert and Nancy Catherine Williams; four sisters; and three brothers. Mrs. West is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Donnie Dees; daughter-in-law, Alice West; grandchildren, Don and wife Cindy West, Michael Dees, Robin and husband Brian Moore, and Brandon Dees; great-grandchildren, Nichole Clark, Justin West and Nathan Moore; and her sister, Debrue Truelove.
