During his time of service, Wallace served in various positions, to include assistant fire chief. He also served on the Board of Directors. He was a charter member of the Cumberland County Arson Task Force, established in 1991. He was a past member of the Cumberland County Fire Chiefs Association. He has been an active member of Hope Mills United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class, served as chairman of the trustees and was involved in the activities of the United Methodist Men's group. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Olivia Smith. He is survived by his wife, Ella Rose; and two sons, Kevin and wife Nicole of Marion and Brian and wife Ann of Leesburg, Va. He had five grandsons, Ryan, Brent, Andrew, Isaac and Joshua. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Sublett and her husband, Chuck, of Fayetteville. He loved his God, family and friends; and enjoyed doing things for others. He will truly be missed.
