Mrs. Jeanette N. Beard went home to be with our Lord on November 27, 2015. Jeanette was born August 11, 1937, the third of nine children to Ollen and Arah Norris of Salemburg, NC. She married Donald Beard on April 24, 1960. They have one son, Don Jr. They lived in Sophia, NC from 1963 to 1975. Jeanette worked at Stewart Furniture Manufacturing in Asheboro, NC before opening her own business, Custom Sewing. In 1975, in support of Donalds promotion with A&P Food Stores, they relocated to Fayetteville where they lived until her passing. She continued to own Custom Sewing, but also worked for MJ Soffee, Inc., until retirement. She was a good woman married to a good man. She loved and was faithful to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her only son and loved her daughter-in-law Karen like the daughter she never had. She loved music, and loved to sing. Before the decline in her health in recent years, she enjoyed traveling, her favorite trips being to Alaska and Las Vegas. Jeanette was a member of Village Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 2 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Rev. Mike Heath presiding. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm at the funeral home. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Beard Sr.; her son, Don Jr., and daughter-in-law, Karen; two grandchildren, Alex and Abby; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Sadie; four sisters, Doris Hill of Salemburg, Ruby Bryant of Roseboro, Edith Johnson of Eastover, and Pat Royal of Clinton; and two brothers, OB Norris of Stedman and Tommy Norris of Salemburg.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Beard and Merita Carlisle.
