Jeneal Jackson Harris, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Jeneal was born on January 7, 1930, in Cumberland County, NC to Ernest and Elgie Lewis Jackson. She graduated as valedictorian from Stedman High School in 1947. She went on to graduate from Campbell College (now University) and Worth Business School. A job search led her to a position with the NC Highway Patrol setting up new offices in multiple locations including favorites Salisbury and Asheville. One special Sunday morning at First Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Jeneal met 2nd LT Kenneth Lee Harris who was from Florida. After Ken fought in the Korean War and returned to Ft. Bragg, Jeneal and Ken were married on June 20, 1954 at FBC, Fayetteville.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and Village Baptist Church for over 75 years. She was a former member of the Jubilee Sunday School Class, the Sanctuary Choir, and past president of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) at First Baptist and past director of the New South River Baptist Association. She was also a longtime member and past president of the Woman’s Club of Fayetteville. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Harris and sister, Sara Jackson Callahan.
She is survived by her son Shawn Harris and wife Elizabeth of Monroe, daughter, Elisabeth Joyner and husband Tony of Winston-Salem, sister Fay Jackson Horne and husband Billy of Stedman, six grandchildren; Jackson Harris, Mallie Harris Hogan (husband Eric), Gray Harris and Harris Joyner, Bess Joyner, and Salem Joyner.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 12 noon at First Baptist Church 201 Anderson St Downtown Fayetteville with family receiving friends in memorial lounge from 11am-12pm. Burial will follow the funeral service in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
Funeral arrangements are being thoughtfully handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, North Carolina.
