Jeneeta C. Laureano FAYETTEVILLE — Ms. Jeneeta "Gee" Chavis Laureano, 53, of Fayetteville, went to collect her robe and crown in the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at home with her family. Her father, Lather Don Chavis; her mother, Dorothy "Dot" Goins Chavis; her brother, Stephen Lather Chavis; her sister, Jeannette Hunt Maiden; and her cousin, Sgt. James Heath Hardin, preceded her in death. Jeneeta attended Praise Fellowship Church of God. She was an employee of Cumberland County Courthouse in the finance department, where she met an abundance of friends who eventually turned into family. She leaves behind her precious children: A daughter and son-in-law, Jessica Laureano Groves and husband, Jeremy Groves, and a son, Joseph "Joey" Laureano and girlfriend, Katye Nunnery; three beautiful grandchildren, who were her world, Jared W. Groves, Aidan N. Nunnery, and the baby Jacob A. Groves; her very special friend who were together four years, Hector Santiago. She also leaves behind two biological siblings: A sister Pamela Allen and husband, David Allen, and a brother, Charlie Chavis and wife, Armida Chavis; two aunts, Malissie "Mel" Hardin and Margreate Hunt, who were more like mothers after her own mother passed away. Four other sisters she leaves behind: Annette Brewer and husband, Larry Brewer, Sharee Strickland and husband, Louis Strickland, Larae Russ and Glinda Brewington. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews and an abundance of family and friends. A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Praise Fellowship Church of God at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
