Obituary

Mrs. Jennie Scott Bleecker was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Bleecker Sr. and the daughter of the late Jerry L. Scott and Bessie Draughon Scott. Jennie is survived by a son, Robert F. Bleecker Jr and wife Judye of Fayetteville; granddaughters, Haley Scott Brendle of Winston-Salem, Leslie Leigh Bleecker of Durham and Happy Bleecker Hibler and husband Travis Evans Hibler of Fayetteville; great-grandson, Avery Scott Brendle of Winston-Salem; sisters, Ann Tolar of Goldsboro and Katherine Baird of Lumberton; and brother, Jimmie Scott of Bedford, VA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Scott of Fayetteville; and brothers, Charles Scott, Edgar Scott, Berry Scott, Bill Scott and Buck Scott, all of Fayetteville, and William Scott of Whiteville. Jennie was active in the automobile business since 1938, and was a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association, as well as the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a leader of Sarah's Circle and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Altrusa International Club, the Eastern Star, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. In addition, she served on the USS North Carolina Battleship Commission. Jennie passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009, in Duke University Medical Center in Durham. The family will be receiving family and friends at the home of her son on 1219 Longleaf Drive. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm tonight, January 15, 2009, at Jernigan Warren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 am Friday, January 16, 2009, in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. John W. Coker officiating. The burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery, Section 3. Flowers are welcome, however, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 569, Fayetteville NC 28302.
