Retired US Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Jerry Murray Edwards, Sr., 87, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11 am in Village Baptist Church with Rev. Nick Smith presiding. The burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.

Jerry retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service, including the Korean War. He was also a member of Village Baptist Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Riddle Edwards; son, Jerry M. Edwards, Jr.; and grandson, Jerry M. Edwards, III.

He is survived by his sons, Phillip Edwards of Hope Mills, Charles Edwards of Fayetteville and James Randy Edwards of Victoria, TX; daughter, Carolyn Johnson of Goliad, TX; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 1, from 6 to 8 pm, at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home.
