Jerry Leon Matthews, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

Jerry was born on September 16, 1937, in Nash County to the late Willie Gray Matthews and Daisy Sykes Matthews. He retired from Estes Express Lines after many years of service.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Matthews.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Matthews Robinson and husband, Dennis; son, Jackie Matthews; grandsons, Casey Robinson and wife Jazmine, Chase Robinson, and wife Chasity; great grandchildren, Mason, Marlee, Ava and Stori; brother, Curney Matthews; sisters, Nancy McDowell, and Carolyn "Doll" Matthews.
