Mrs. Jessie Gardner Bibb, 92 of Fayetteville passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Jernigan-Warren Chapel with the Rev. A. Edward Beddingfield, Jr. officiating. The burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 10:00 till 11:00 a.m. Jessie was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II, having served as a registered nurse. She retired as a civilian registered nurse from Womack Army Hospital in 1980. Jessie was an active member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #334 having served as past worthy matron.
Mrs. Bibb was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Bradley Bibb, Jr., parents Ben & Jessie Gardner,stepfather King Edward Byrd, son John E. Bibb, brothers Clyde Gardner, Baxter Gardner and Ralph Byrd.
She is survived by her brother Edward and Rosalee Byrd of Clinton , sons Lewis Bradley Bibb, III. and his wife Frances of Hickory and David Bibb of Atlanta, Ga., grandchildren Margaret Gray, Brad Bibb, Richard Bibb, Ronnie Bibb, Kathryn Calhoun, Vance Bibb, William Bibb, Johna Yearly, Ben Bibb, Clay Bibb, Matt Bibb and 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
The family would like to express their gratitude and special thanks to Diane Abraham, Sue and United Hopice for the loving care they gave Jessie.
