Jessie Bell Maynor Eastman
FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs Jessie Bell Maynor Eastman, a native of Robeson County, born Feb. 20, 1936, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at the age of 73, after an extended illness. Jessie was born to the late Wilkie Maynor of Sampson County and Meta Maynor of Cumberland County. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville tonight, Dec. 27, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of her life will begin in the chapel at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009. Burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Eastman is survived by a brother, James (Jay Bird) Maynor of Lumberton; eight children, Stonie Maynor Eastman and his wife, Beth, of Stem, Thomas Wayne Eastman and his wife, Reesa, of Fayetteville, Ronnie Eastman of Fayetteville, Debra Eastman of Autryville, Lori Spears and husband Michael of Garner, Betty Webb and husband Mike of Raeford, Ricky Eastman and wife Holly of Clayton and Susan Drewry of Raeford; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Eastman, of 35 years in 1990; brother, Wilkie Junior Maynor of Fayetteville; and four sisters, Barbara Jean Maynor Britt, Thelma Maynor, Mary Gladys Hunt McCabe and Pearl Maynor. Jessie spent her life caring for others, she dedicated herself, with the help of her late husband Leonard, to raising eight children. She cared for her husband during an extended illness. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend to all she met. She even took up baby-sitting for a while. She cared for two tenants, who had no other family, Leon Fisher and Cleveland Ray. We would like to say a very special thanks to all who have taken a part in caring for our mother during her illness, and a special thanks to LHC Hospice of Fayetteville.
