Jimmy Lynn Berckman, 83, of Fayetteville, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was a man of faith, known for his exceptional kindness, and genuine care for others. His sense of humor and sweet smile brightened the lives of all who knew him. Jimmy dedicated many years of his life to A&P grocery and later, B&J Enterprises, before his well-deserved retirement. A lifelong member of Victory United Methodist Church, he found joy in staying active, whether tending to his yard or working on a classic car. Best known as "Dad," "Papa," and "Uncle Jimmy," his love for his family was evident in everything he did.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 9 from 12:45-2:00pm at Victory United Methodist Church, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will take place immediately following at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Berckman; parents, James and Ruby Berckman; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Rachel Berckman; and great-grandson, Asher Sheets. He is also preceded in death by several cherished brothers and sisters-in-law.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Allyson Joyner and husband Danny of Fayetteville; son, Brien Berckman of Virginia; grandson, Justin Joyner and wife Victoria of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Jordan Sheets and husband Robby of Greenville; granddaughter, Sydney Alexander and husband Danny of Virginia; great-grandchildren Aliza and Jace Joyner, Sutton and Julian Sheets, Hayden Alexander, and the anticipation of a new great-grandson soon. Jimmy is also survived by his beloved friend, Betty Edge.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials be made to Victory UMC, 404 Quality Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
