Joanne Johnson Smith, 62, of Lillington, was born March 10, 1959 in Ft Ord, California and passed away at Womack Army Medical Center on Friday, May 21, 2021.

Joanne lit up a room with her presence. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, and "Producer of Miracles". She was a dedicated special education teacher who taught in Cumberland and Harnett Counties. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband Ira. One of her greatest joys was being a "Mimi."

Joanne is survived by her loving husband Ira G. Smith and Bella Pepper; sons, David Horton (wife Courtney), Shelton Horton (wife Melissa); daughters, Kayla Blackmon (husband Steven), Jennifer Smith; niece, Lisa Ammons (husband Benjamin); brothers, Marshall Johnson (wife Christine), Hubert Johnson (wife Estrella); and sister, Mary "Sissy" Gonzales (husband Noe). As well, Joanne loved and is loved by a horde of grandkids and other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, May 28, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 2 pm at Cedar Falls Baptist Church. Burial on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11am at Lafayette Memorial Park.
