Mr. Joe Thomas, 81, of Hope Mills, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008, in his home. Mr. Thomas was retired from King Model Homes. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 59 years, Mary B. Thomas of the home; one son, Howard F. Thomas of the home; three daughters, Annie Jean Smith of Fayetteville, Brenda E. Darden of Hope Mills and Gwen T. McMillan of the home; seven grandchildren, Henry \\"JR\\" Darden, Joyce Pittman, Donna Godwin, Cindy Thomas, Karen Marsh, Judy-Ann McMillan and JC McMillan; and nine great-grandchildren, William, Michael, Kailee, Miranda, Christian, Christina, Hannah, Gabby, and Isabella. The family will receive friends at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville today, April 12, 2008, from 7 to 9 pm. Services will be held at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 3529 Dundle Road, at 3 pm Sunday, April 13, 2008, with the Revs. Dwight Jackson and Jimmy Bullard officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Mills Cemetery.
