Joelle Dawson Detter, 28, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, September 9, 2006. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Dawson Spruill; maternal grandfather Vernon Lee Spruill Sr.; and paternal grandparents J.D. and Hazel Detter. She is survived by her parents James and Dorothy Detter of Fayetteville; sister, Stephanie Detter Purser, and husband, Tommie of Cary; grandmother, Mrs. Vernon L. Spruill of Fayetteville; and beloved friend Andrew Berto of Fayetteville. Joelle was a graduate of Terry Sanford High School, Fayetteville Technical Community College and Fayetteville State University. She was a special education teacher with the Cumberland County School System. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 4 pm at Hay Street United Methodist Church with Dr. John Tyson officiating. Burial will be at LaFayette Memorial Park.
