Mrs. Johanna Smith, 84, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday evening, February 17, 2015, in her home with her family by her bedside.

A private memorial service will be held at Kure Beach where Johanna loved to fish and vacation with her family.

Johanna was born in Austria on December 24, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired US Army SFC. Harold J. Smith.

She is survived by her daughters, Iris Murphy of Fayetteville and Sandra Hamill of Pennsylvania; son, Steve Smith and wife Sue of Fayetteville; 5 grandchildren, Nicki Douglas and husband Lee, James Walker and wife Angie, Anthony Hamill and wife Lisa, Dawn Hamill and Steven Smith; 7 great-grandchildren, Elijah Douglas, Chris and Alex Walker, Autumn Young, and Johanna, Jacob and Charlotte Hamill.; and her twin sister, Margarethe Bren of Germany.
