Obituary

John Alfred Apple Jr., 81, of Fayetteville, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital. Mr. Apple was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge. Mr. Apple was the owner and operator of a Snap-on Tools distributorship. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, in the chapel of Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Jim Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Apple is survived by his wife, Doris Gregson Apple of the home; two sons, John David Apple of Fayetteville and Philip Alan Apple and wife Susan of Waxhaw; a sister, Florence Hamilton of Greensboro; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Abraham, Taylor and Owen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565; or to Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
