John Robert Bell, 82 of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg. He was born on July 16, 1933, in Winthrop, Mass. John retired from the US Army as SFC after proudly serving his country for 23 years with tours in both Vietnam and Korea. He then went on to work for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville as a Foreman of Laundry for 20 years, retiring in 1998. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Anita F. Bell; sisters, Ethel Boschen, Dorothy Turney, Maywood Foster, Ruth Mullins, Barbra Volk and Eleanor Goodwin; granddaughter, Theresa Rivera. He is survived by sons, Timothy John Bell and wife Lorie, Christopher Todd Bell and companion Renee Jacobs ( her daughter Emmalyn) and daughter Donna Lynn Croker and husband Bobby all of Fayetteville; grandson, Bradley Crocker of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Ashley Bell of New York; great granddaughter, Harmoni; and great grandson, Christopher Crocker of Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel with burial following in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 12- 1 p.m.Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
