John Gregory "Jory" Bowers of Fayetteville, NC passed away May 11, 2018. He was 33 years old.

Jory is survived by his sons, Eathan Gregory Bowers and Colin Daniel Bowers of Fayetteville. He is also survived by his parents, Alan Bowers of Norton, VA and Chris and Kathy Holland of Fayetteville, NC; brother Adam Wesley Bowers of Norton, VA; sister Lydia Camille Bowers of Fayetteville, NC; grandmothers Dorothy Chittester of Fayetteville, NC and Joan Holland of Louisburg, NC; great-grandmother Lydia Mullins Collins of Abingdon, VA; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Hurshel W. Bowers and Anne K. Bowers; grandfather Dr. James E. Holland; cousins Ann Bowers and Victoria Chittester.

Jory was a loving son, brother, and grandson. He was a hero to his boys. He was a friend to those who needed a friend.

Jory attended Pine Forest High School. He later moved to Southwest Virginia where he lived for several years. He was a wonderful cook and loved to play the piano. He loved to talk and was happy to meet new people. He was also an avid reader of history and nature books. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his sons.

A celebration of Jory's life will be held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, NC on Thursday. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
