John Newton Brown, born April 16, 1946 to Helen Newton and Charles Franklin Brown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior December 24, 2011.
Beloved husband of Cathy Mazur Brown, father of Jason Scott Brown and wife Sarah of Clayton, N.C., Papa of Emma Caroline and Jeffrey Wyatt; brother of Charles F. Brown, Jr. and wife Sandy of Wake Forest, N.C.; brother in law to Barbara and Gene Neely of Camas, WA; JoAnne and Jim Kiger of The Villages, FLA; Brent and Becky Mazur of Jonesboro, GA; Bruce and Linda Mazur of Lady Lake, FLA; Uncle John to many nieces and nephews.
A US Navy veteran, retired from Piedmont/US Airways Airlines after 34 years of service, member of Cypress Lakes Golf Course and Northwood Temple Church. John loved the Lord, his family and friends. He will be remembered for his honesty, his love for 'telling stories', his beautiful yard, his golf swing and his 'heart of gold'.
The family will receive friends Monday night, December 26, 2011, from 7pm to 9pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home and other times at their home. The funeral for Mr. John Newton Brown will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Northwood Temple Church, officiated by the Dr. John Hedgepeth. The Burial will follow the funeral service at Gilmont Cemetery in Hope Mills with military honors.
Heartfelt thanks to all our family and friends that supported us through this journey we are truly humbled by your love…for never giving up and 'loving us through it'. To Rick, Henry and Doug 'love you man' for reaching out your faithful hands so many times.
The family is also thankful to the staff at UNC Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in Chapel Hill, Cape Fear Cancer Center, and Rehabilitation and Health Care – The Carolina Inn at Village Green in Fayetteville and 3HC Hospice Care. John was able to remain positive, strong and enjoy life to the fullest with their loving and compassionate care.
