FAYETTEVILLE - John Robert Hines, 87, went home to be with his precious, sweet Jesus, on Sunday morning, April 10, 2011.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Grace Baptist Church. Following the visitation, funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Nick Rich officiating. The burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hines was retired from CP&L after 39 years where he worked as a service supervisor for Cumberland County. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, gardener, and fix-it-all handyman. He was an active member of Grace Baptist Church for as long as he was able.
Above all else, he was a beloved husband, loving father, great brother and friend. He was pure of heart and a man of integrity. He was \\"Superman.\\"
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Hines.
He is survived by his dear wife of 63 years, Ila B. Hines; daughter, Darlene Minge and husband, Curt Minge, and their family, Dustin Williams, Christie Williams, Heather Loch, Wesley Loch, Aric Loch, and Tyler Loch; daughter, Judy Weaver and husband Larry Weaver, and their family, Adam Thibodeaux, Aimee Thibodeaux, Lauren Thibodeaux, Conner Thibodeaux, Rhonda Turner, Jimmy Turner and Chris Turner; daughter, Debbie Miller and husband, Eddie Miller, and their family, Rant Miller, Nanet Miller, Madison Miller, Daran Miller, Camil Miller, and J.B. Miller and his fiancee, Kaytlyn Row; and daughter, Sheila Hines and her partner, Tanas Ball; brothers, Harold Hines and family and Jimmy Hines and family; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
