FAYETTEVILLE - John Steven "Steve" Johnson, Sr., 57, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, October 13, 2016.

Steve was born October 22, 1958 in Cumberland Co. to Barbara McBryde Johnson and the late John Gilbert Johnson. He was a lifelong farmer who truly loved what he did for a living. More importantly though, Steve was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He never met a stranger and his willingness to help anyone in need will truly be missed.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 3 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Rev. Archie Barringer presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 pm at the funeral home.

Steve is survived by his wife, Karla Johnson of the home; sons, Steven Johnson and wife, Jaime, of Savannah, and Brian Johnson of Fayetteville; grandson, Ethan Johnson; mother, Barbara M. Johnson of Fayetteville; and brother, James Gilbert "Jimmy" Johnson of Fayetteville.
