John Norman Britt, 65, of Granite Falls, NC enter the gates of Heaven on Saturday July 5, 2014. John was born September 14, 1948 to the late Johnny Franklin and Ina Ruth Britt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Justice, Sister Edith Britt, sister-in-law Renee Britt, and nephew Ashley Britt. In 1968 he felt the call to serve his country during the Vietnam era, by joining the US Marines, where he served two tours. Following the war he began a life in construction work and did so until he was hit by an automobile in 2005, which left him unable to care for himself. Mr. Britt is survived by his sons Travis and Johnny Franklin Britt II, his daughter Michelle, all of St Pauls, NC: his brother David Britt of Hickory, NC: sisters: Nora Faust of Orlando Fl., Rebecca(William) Matthews: Juanita (Frank) Caltagirone both Lillington, NC: Mary (Raymond) Rogers: Evelyn (Rev. Mark) Hall, both of Fayetteville, NC and 13 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Wednesday July 9, 2014 from 10:00-11:000 am, a graveside service will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disable American Veteran, 1020 19th St NW Suite 475, Washington, DC 20036, or charity of one's choice. The Family would like to give a personal thank you to Mrs. Barlow, and staff of Brockford Inn Assisted Living Center in Granite Falls, NC, for the excellent care given to John since March of 2012. Also as this a time when the Veteran Administration is under fire, we would like to thank both the local Hickory VA Clinic, and the Salisbury VA Center for their excellent care over these years, you have shown us that you do value our Veterans.
