Fayetteville, N.C. Sergeant First Class Retired U.S. Army John Edward Patterson, 82 of Fayetteville passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. John was an Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was retired from civil service at Ft. Bragg. John was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 333 and also the Fort Bragg Masonic Lodge # 667. He was preceded in death by his wives Laura Patterson and Helen Patterson. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Cumberland Memorial Gardens with full military honors with the Chaplain Kenneth Jarmon, officiating. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Patterson is survived by his son Randy B. Cook and wife Angela of Fayetteville; daughters Sharon C. Pope and husband Dennis of Fayetteville and Robin R. Watts and husband H.F. of Chapel Hill; sisters Pat Thomkins and husband Bob of Houston, Texas and Edna Atkins of Clinton, Mississippi and seven grandchildren Christopher Pope and wife Ashley, Lindsey Pope, Eric Caratao, Ryan Cook, Bessie Cook, Amy White and husband Greg, and Ashley Turner; three great-grandchildren Majella Pope, Will Holland, and Jada Turner.
